The Bill Armstrong Safety Award is given to a farm equipment dealer who has worked hard to improve business, reduce losses and to be a pillar in the community. They must exemplify a commitment to Risk Management and Loss Prevention plans, processes, and procedures and at the same time participate in and support their community.

The Bill Armstrong Safety Award was created by Federated Insurance and Canada West to honour Bill Armstrong who was the manager for the Alberta/British Columbia Farm Equipment Dealer Association, and the Award is thus very special to the Association. Federated Insurance is honoured to be involved in the nomination and survey process of the Award.

Bob Mazer, President & CEO - Mazergroup Ltd. and Glenn Horyshen, owner and General Manager of Kelsey Farm Equipment Ltd. are pleased to announce that the two operations have agreed to merge operations, effective December 1, 2010.

Both Mazergroup and Kelsey Farm Equipment have long histories in the farm equipment industry and share common philosophy in providing superior customer service along with offering industry leading brands.

The Mazergroup Organization is a product of many individual family grown operations and the Horyshen family operation, Kelsey Farm Equipment Ltd. has that same history.

You will see the rebranding process at Kelsey Farm Equipment to Mazergroup - Swan River take place over the next few weeks and months.

Glenn’s long term commitment to remain as Sales Manager and Team Leader along with his entire staff will ensure the continued high level of service to all current and future customers that has been provided by Kelsey Farm Equipment in the past.

Effective today Mazergroup/Blight Equipment announces an agreement with Chabot Implements that effective October 25^th, 2010 Blight Equipment will resign as a CIH dealer. With full support of New Holland North America, Mazergroup – Portage intends to focus efforts to grow the New Holland brand in the Portage area.

"We are confident that with the recent announcement of a New Holland high clearance sprayer line, completely redesigned T8000 high horsepower row crop tractors, new four wheel drive, industry leading hay tool line and our full line of world class rotary and conventional combines, Mazergroup – Portage is well positioned to be fully competitive in the marketplace” stated Bob Mazer, President and CEO of Mazergroup Ltd, during the announcement to staff today.

Mazergroup – Portage will continue operations from our present location at Highway #1A West in Portage la Prairie. With planned additions and upgrades, our focus will be continued improvement in our customer service and support.

World Record Plow a Success!

Sunday August 1st in Austin, MB, two new world records were set for pulling the largest plow ever assembled. Five old Model 30-60 E Rumely Oil Pull tractors successfully pulled 66-14″ bottom of Cockshutt Plow. A New Holland Model T9060 Tractor equipped with ATI Tracks supplied by Mazergroup was then hooked to the same plow going 2 mph using only 50% horsepower of its 535 HP rating! This was a record pull for a single tractor. Erron Leafloor, CNH Engineer from Saskatoon, SK, designed and built the hitch for this monster plow and was at the controls of the tractor during the event. I, Bruce Evans, representing Mazergroup had the privilege of riding in the tractor and witnessing the world pulling record!

Mazergroup, comprised of 13 locations in Manitoba and 1 location in Saskatchewan, formally unveiled the organization’s new look on November 17, 2009. At a gathering in Brandon, Manitoba, over 220 staff members were present for the announcement.

“This is a proud day for our organization on the 50^th anniversary of the business my dad originally founded”, Bob Mazer, President and CEO beams. “The Mazergroup dealership brand is a culmination of bringing many great individual dealerships under one name for a stronger future. We could not have developed our brand without the dedication of the entire staff and the loyalty of our long time customers”.

During the day, staff members were informed of the history of each dealership as each one has a story on how they became a part of the organization. Time was set aside for everyone to get acquainted and to finally put a face to the name and voice they hear on a daily basis. While staff mingled, Bob Mazer along with sons Jonathan and Andrew made fresh french fries for all to sample. Finally, the day was finished off with a few words by special guest Jeff Odgers.

The Mazergroup staff was extremely pleased with the meeting and are looking forward to hearing the announcement of the next one. “There were so many positive comments from our staff. I can say that it will be sooner than later” said Dale Shepherd, V.P. of Sales & Asset Management.
